Instructions for Performers
(please read all instructions before starting)
1. The performance can be undertaken in any setting but out of doors is recommended to start
2. Look as carefully as you can at the image on reverse of this sheet.
3. Switch smartphone to video setting
4. Hold camera on smartphone so that the image fills the screen and start recording.
5. Record the sound you can hear while looking at the image. Do this for 5 minutes.
6. Connect headphones to the smartphone.
7. Sit or stand in the same position as the one in which you made the recording.
8. For the five minutes of the playback, listen to the sound of the recording via the headphones and to the sounds around you at the same time.
9. Notice which of these two sound sources attracts your attention at any particular time. Experiment with adjusting the playback volume.
